The United Nations Security Council is expected to receive an update this November from International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Karim Khan on recent developments concerning Libya, as reported by Security Council Report website.
Khan’s briefing will focus on the ICC’s efforts to ensure accountability and justice for crimes committed in Libya.
The session is anticipated to include updates on arrest warrants issued for members of the “Kaniyat” militia. The briefing may also involve testimonies from Libyan civil society representatives to provide additional insights into the situation on the ground.
In his previous address to the Security Council in May, Prosecutor Khan presented a roadmap to conclude ICC investigations on Libya, including issuing additional arrest warrants and aiming to advance to the judicial phase by the end of 2025.
