A team of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) is visiting Libya to train staff at the centre for illegal immigrants in the use of the (BIOSLED) device, which contributes to detecting terrorist fighters and wanted criminals trying to cross the border, exploiting the flow of illegal immigration.

This comes as part of the "Hotspot" operation implemented by "Interpol" at border crossings, green lines, reception or detention centres for illegal immigrants and police stations. It said that it conducted operations in the United Kingdom, Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia in 2021.

Interpol explained that Operation Hotspot is an initiative that relies on the use of biometric data to prevent terrorists from crossing borders and to undermine the networks that facilitate their travel.
