The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that 973 migrants were intercepted off the Libyan coast last week and returned to Libya.

The IOM explained that among the migrants were 44 women and 27 children, adding that 12 bodies of migrants had been recovered off the Libyan coast.

According to the organization, a total of 8,754 migrants have been intercepted so far this year, while 332 died and 528 others went missing off the Libyan coast.
