The spokesman of Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, has revealed that Foreign Minister, Ihsan Allawi instructed an Iraqi diplomatic delegation to travel to Libya in order to work on reopening the Iraqi embassy in Tripoli.

Al-Sahaf added in a statement that the delegation held several meetings with the Libyan National Security Adviser, Ibrahim Bushnaf in Tripoli, and during the meeting they discussed bilateral relations.

He noted that the delegation expressed Iraq's desire for the possibility of reopening the Iraqi embassy in Libya, in order to play its role in revitalizing political and diplomatic activities, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries, in addition to providing consular services and work for the Iraqi community residing in Libya.

Al-Sahaf reaffirmed his country's support for international efforts to restore security and stability in Libya, and to adopt the political option in meeting the aspirations of the Libyan people.
