The Libyan Iron and Steel Company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to enhance their joint efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce industrial greenhouse gas emissions in Libya.

The company explained on its Facebook page that the memorandum of understanding aims to improve energy performance, integrate renewable energy where possible, and support the company's efforts to comply with international climate standards, including the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

It added that UNDP will work with the company to identify opportunities for technical cooperation and institutional capacity building, and support the broader transition to sustainable energy use in Libya's industrial sector.
