Italy's Ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino, on Monday held his first meeting with the Presidential Council following the government's shift in Rome. The leader of the right-wing Fratelli d’Italia party, Giorgia Meloni, was sworn in as Prime Minister of Italy on Saturday.

A statement by the PC on Facebook said the meeting reviewed the local and international efforts to resolve the country's political impasse, support for the newly appointed UN envoy to Libya, and the constitutional track managed by the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.

The Presidential Council stressed the importance of consensus among all parties and its impact on the political process and the upcoming elections.

For his part, the Italian ambassador praised the PC's efforts in bringing together Libyan factions and its openness to all efforts supporting the country's stability.
