The Italian news agency ANSA has reported that negotiations to re-launch Operation Sophia, in order to monitor the arms embargo imposed on Libya, have run into a number of roadblocks.

According to the agency, Austria and Hungary have openly opposed Sophia's dependence on marine assets.

It quoted informed European sources as saying that strengthening air traffic control will be another option on the table.

The issue is to be put forward during the EU's foreign ministers meeting in Brussels, on the 17th of February, according to ANSA.
