The Special Envoy for Libya of the Italian Foreign Ministry, Nicola Orlando, has urged the Libyan leaders to put their country at the forefront of their concerns, stressing the importance of finding a unified executive authority.

Orlando expressed, confirmed the United Nations' commitment to peace and stability in Libya, by holding elections as soon as possible, according to the Italian Nova news agency.

“Ultimately, peace and prosperity in a united Libya depend on the goodwill of the country's leaders and key players”, Orlando said.

He also indicated that Rome will continue to support the approach of the Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Libya, Stephanie Williams, who completed her duties in Libya at the end of last July.
