The Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Stephanie Koury, discussed last Monday in Washington in several meetings with officials in the US State Department the developments of the political, economic and security conditions in Libya.

Koury discussed with US Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs Michelle Sison the political process in Libya, the necessity of unifying state institutions, and adopting a better governance approach to migration in addition to adopting a consensual budget for the Libyan state, according to UNSMIL.

In another meeting with the Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Koury discussed ways to advance the political process in Libya, leading to elections. She indicated that they had stressed the importance of the role that the international community must play in coordination with UNSMIL.
