The United Nations Special Envoy in Libya, Jan Kubis visited on Sunday the Municipal Council of Misrata, saying “we sent strong signals calling for the importance of supporting all municipalities in Libya, looking into their needs, and identifying their problems and concerns”.

Kubis reaffirmed that his first visit to the Misrata municipality was successful, pointing out that the focus of his meeting with the mayor and members of the municipality dealt with many important issues and files, including the security file, education, health, economic development and the needs of people with disabilities.

The meeting also touched on the importance of the principle of decentralization and allocating financial funds in a decentralized manner to municipalities, as it is one of the important issues facing the work of each municipality in Libya, according to the municipality’s official Facebook page.
