The Kufra Municipality has rejected reports claiming that over one million Sudanese refugees have entered Libya, labeling the figures as inaccurate.
Abdullah Suleiman, the Director of the Municipality's Media Office, addressed the rumors in a statement to the press, clarifying that the actual number of refugees is much lower than reported.
Suleiman highlighted the challenges in monitoring Libya’s borders, which are not under tight surveillance, making it difficult to precisely assess the number of Sudanese refugees who have crossed into the country since the outbreak of the ongoing armed conflict in Sudan.
He also confirmed that the municipality has issued over 120,000 health certificates to Sudanese refugees, adding that the influx continues daily, though at fluctuating rates.
