The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, emphasized that there is no alternative to the Libyan crisis other than a political settlement, within the framework of a wide-ranging process, in which all major forces in the country participate.

This came in a telephone call between the Russian Foreign Minister and the new United Nations (UN) envoy to Libya Jan Kubis, in which Lavrov indicated Russia’s eagerness to communicate closely with the UN mediation and its determination to play an important role in coordinating the peace process.
