Libya abstained from voting on a resolution on the deteriorating human rights situation in Syria issued by the United Nations Human Rights Council at its 51st session last Friday.

The resolution was adopted by 25 votes to 6 against, with 16 abstentions. Among the countries that voted in favor of the resolution were the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Kuwait, Qatar and Turkey.

Among the countries that abstained from voting were Libya, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Somalia, India and Indonesia.

Libya also abstained from voting on a resolution to discuss China's violations of the Muslim Uighurs and the possibility of occurrence of crimes against humanity in this region.
