The Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons of the US State Department has developed bilateral, regional, and global projects worth more than $225 million in more than 95 countries, including Libya, according to the US embassy in Libya.

In a statement, the embassy said the objective of these projects is to address human trafficking and its drivers.

"Corruption is one of the drivers of human trafficking. US efforts to address both issues involve reducing the ability of human traffickers to use the US and international financial systems to hide assets and launder their proceeds," the embassy tweeted on Wednesday.
