The Head of Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and the US envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, have agreed that the crisis in Sudan provides more urgency to the Libyan political process facilitated by the United Nations.

The US embassy in Libya stated in a tweet that Dbeibah and Norland discussed "Libyan-US common interest to secure a cease-fire in Sudan."

The two sides agreed that "The crisis there underlines the pressing need for the UN facilitated Libyan political process.", and the need to control Libyan territories and borders through unified security institutions under an elected and sovereign government, according to the US embassy tweet.

The two sides also talked about "the need to develop a clear legal framework for civil society organizations that are crucial to the elections, and for support to the aspirations of the Libyan people."
