Libya recently led a meeting of the North African geopolitical group at the Pan-African Parliament’s general session in South Africa. The Libyan delegation was represented by Yusuf Al-Fakhri, a member of the House of Representatives (HoR) and Deputy Chair of the North African group, along with Saleh Qalma, Secretary of the House and fellow parliament member.
According to the HoR spokesman Abdullah Bliheq, the meeting focused on the Pan-African Parliament’s request to address the vacant First Vice President position, a role reserved for the North African group. After deliberation, it was agreed that Mauritania would assume this position.
Al-Fakhri, in his role as Deputy Chair of the North African group, stated that the group unanimously passed a resolution condemning the brutal acts committed by the Israeli entity in Palestine and Lebanon. The resolution is set to be ratified by the Pan-African Parliament’s leadership at the conclusion of this session.
This meeting occurred in parallel with the Pan-African Parliament’s broader general session, which also took place in South Africa.
