The Libyan Stability Support Apparatus has deployed desert patrols along the Libyan-Tunisian border to enhance security and combat illegal activities.
In a Facebook statement, the apparatus confirmed that its Nalut office has initiated patrols aimed at curbing smuggling and illegal migration, indicating that the move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen border control and security, especially in the remote desert regions where smuggling and unauthorized crossings are notably prevalent.
It emphasized that securing border areas is a top priority for Libya's national security and serves as the first line of defence against various threats, including arms and drug smuggling, while also limiting the infiltration of terrorist elements.
