The Libyan National Oil Corporation announced the return of operations in Al-Sabah field after the lifting of force majeure and the handover of its operations to Zueitina Company, by the Petroleum Facilities Guard in the Oil Crescent region.

In February 2022, Al-Sabah field was subjected to sabotage and looting that affected the field facilities, surface equipment, electricity cables, and control rooms.

Al-Sabah oilfield is considered one of the Makasima fields south of the ports of Es Sidr and Ras Lanuf near the Zala Oasis, which also includes the Al-Fida and Al-Hakim fields, as well as the “29C” field. The average rates of oil and gas produced in Al-Sabah field reaches about 19.000 barrels of oil per day.
