Libya has regained its full membership and voting rights in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), ending a ten-year suspension.
The decision followed a meeting at the OPCW headquarters in The Hague, attended by Libya’s National Authority for Monitoring the Implementation of Chemical and Nuclear Weapons Prohibition Agreements.
The Ministry of Defence announced the development on Tuesday, highlighting the efforts of the Government of National Unity in achieving this milestone.
The ministry credited the reinstatement to Libya’s cooperation with OPCW inspectors during their November visit to the Rabta Pharmaceutical Factory, which confirmed Libya’s compliance with international standards. Officials say the move bolsters Libya’s international reputation and reaffirms its commitment to global security norms.
