Angola and Libya have overtaken Nigeria as Africa's highest crude oil producers, a report by the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) said.

The monthly OPEC report showed an increase in oil production by ten countries last August, led by Libya, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait as Libyan production reached 1.123 million barrels per day, after the lifting of force majeure in mid-July 2022.

Libya's production witnessed a strong increase, amounting to 426,000 barrels per day, compared to July, when production stabilized at 697,000 barrels per day and June 632,000 barrels per day.
