Libya has successfully lobbied for a change in the Mediterranean Games programme.
The Executive Office of the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games, meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia, approved a proposal by the Libyan Olympic Committee to replace traditional football with futsal starting in the 2030 Games, to be hosted in Pristina.
Mohamed Quraimida, Director of International Relations at the Libyan Olympic Committee and a member of the executive office, presented the proposal. The change was endorsed by the committee’s Innovation and New Sports division.
The meeting also reviewed governance frameworks, financial reports, and the latest preparations for the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy.
