The Government of National Unity is sending immediate aid to Turkey, including rescue teams and search dogs, in the wake of the major earthquake that hit the country on Monday.

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah gave orders for the urgent dispatch of a technical team and four search dogs to assist in the search for those trapped under the rubble," a statement by the GNU media office said on Facebook.

The assistance includes 55 emergency responders and specialists from the National Safety Authority, the Criminal Investigation Department, and the Military Medicine Department, besides four search dogs.

A violent 7.9-magnitude earthquake struck central Turkey and northwest Syria on Monday, killing at least 2,300 people, as buildings collapsed in the snow-covered area, while the search for survivors is still undergoing.
