Libya and Spain have activated a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to start cooperation in the field of customs work.

The Director General of Libya's Customs Authority, Major General Suleiman Ali, who is visiting Spain, confirmed in a press statement that they signed the minutes of the meeting at the HQ of the General Administration of Customs and Taxes in Madrid, activating the MoU signed by Prime Minister Dbeibah in 2021 with the Kingdom of Spain.

The two sides discussed the terms of the agreement on Friday. According to Major General Ali, the MoU allows cooperation in the field of customs work, enhancing technical and information exchange, and identifying points of contact between the two sides to serve and achieve the interests of both countries.

On the sidelines of the visit, the customs senior official met with his counterparts from Belgium and Hungary, who expressed their willingness to coordinate with Libya in combating smuggling and organized crime, according to the same source.
