The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, has discussed with Turkish Vice President, Fuat Oktay, political and economic cooperation between the two countries.

This came during their phone call, in which Oktay conveyed the greetings of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Libyans, according to the GNU media office.

Libyan-Turkish relations have developed significantly since the previous Government of National Accord signed two agreements with Turkey in 2019, one security and the other to demarcate the maritime borders between the two countries.

These relations were strengthened when a high-ranking Turkish delegation visited Tripoli last month, which resulted in the signing of several memoranda of understanding and protocols, the most important of which is the exploration of oil and gas in the eastern Mediterranean.
