The US Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, says "productive discussions" have been held in Washington on boosting investment opportunities in Libya.

Speaking after meetings hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce, Norland highlighted growing American interest in strengthening trade and investment ties with Libya, describing the Government of National Unity as committed to creating a positive environment for investors.

He also stressed the need for Libya’s main political factions to agree swiftly on a unified national budget to help stabilise the country’s finances.

The discussions included major American companies and a Libyan delegation led by Oil and Gas Minister Khalifa Abdul-Sadiq.
