The Government of National Unity (GNU) has welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached between Pakistan and India, calling it a "positive and important step" toward easing regional tensions.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Saturday, Libya praised the move as a step toward reinforcing peace and stability in South Asia.
The ministry expressed its sincere appreciation for the efforts of all international actors involved in facilitating the agreement. It stated that such initiatives embody the values of dialogue, understanding, good neighbourliness, and peaceful coexistence.
Earlier on Saturday, Pakistan and India confirmed a ceasefire deal following four days of intense cross-border clashes that brought the two nuclear-armed neighbours to the brink of war. The ceasefire came 12 hours after Pakistan launched a military operation named “Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous.”
