The Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Attorney General's Office Ali Zubaida told reporters that security authorities had arrested the second suspect in the killing of immigrants off Sabratha coast - which was condemned nationally and internationally, in addition to storming five sites housing illegal immigrants, releasing 159 immigrants, and seizing equipment, boats, weapons and survival kits.

The first suspect in the killing of 15 illegal immigrants and the burning of their boat off Sabratha shores was apprehended on Monday; three days after the mass murder of the immigrants, among whom there were 11 burnt bodies, Zubaida said.

The Presidential Council announced earlier the formation of an investigation committee to probe the crime, stressing the need to reveal the circumstances of what he called a "heinous crime" and to know the names of those involved as soon as possible. It also called for sending the perpetrators to the relevant authorities for justice.
