The Libyan authorities decided independently to close the Dhiba Wazen border crossing between Libya and Tunisia, starting from midnight on Thursday July 1, for a period of 15 days, a security source confirmed on Thursday.

Tunisia Afrique Press quoted a Tunisian security official as saying that this decision came as a shock, describing it as unjustified, as it does not coincide with bilateral relations and it is aimed solely at the Dhiba Wazan crossing.

It is deemed likely that the worsening epidemiological situation in the Tataouine region, adjacent to the crossing is behind this decision, which will disrupt the movement and inter-trade between both countries.
