A Libyan Coast Guard patrol has picked up 79 migrants from their wrecked boat stranded in the sea, a source from the coast guard said on Sunday.

The source indicated that among the migrants were 13 women and seven children, confirming that they have been returned safely to the Libyan shores where they received medical assistance.

About eight migrants who were on board the boat are still missing, according to the same source.
