The Libyan Constitution Drafting Assembly has welcomed Paris declaration which stressed the necessity of a constitutional basis for holding any parliamentary and presidential elections in the near future.
In a statement Wednesday, the Assembly stressed the necessity of enabling Libyans to exercise their constitutional right and determine their fate through a referendum on the draft constitution.
It also called on all bodies and public institutions in Libya to assume their responsibilities by working to speed up the issuance of the referendum law and its commitment to the success of the constitutional process in all respects.
The Assembly also called on the head of the UN mission in Libya to make the referendum a priority, stressing the right of the Libyan people in building a state of law and institutions and the peaceful transfer of power.
