The Libyan consulate in Alexandria, Egypt, announced the suspension of its work from last Saturday until further notice.

Consul Adel Al-Hassi said in a statement on Sunday that the step comes against the backdrop of the storming of its headquarters and losing control as the top diplomat appointed by the internationally recognized government.

A group of people in support of the former Libyan consul in Egypt of the eastern government, Mohamed Dersi, stormed last Tuesday the headquarters of the Libyan consulate in Alexandria and occupied it without any reaction from the Egyptian authorities until now.
