A Tripoli court has sentenced a man to 12 years in prison for kidnapping 14 Tunisian citizens in 2019.
The abductions were reportedly carried out to pressure Tunisian authorities into releasing a detainee held in Tunisia on criminal charges.
The Libyan Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the conviction in a statement, noting that the defendant was permanently stripped of his civil rights as part of the sentence.
