The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, met with Malta's Ambassador to Libya on Wednesday, alongside the committee overseeing the unfreezing of Libyan citizens’ and public companies’ funds abroad.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting reviewed the work of the committee, established under Prime Ministerial Decision No. 26 of 2024, and announced the lifting of restrictions on 1,800 bank accounts at the Bank of Valletta.
Discussions also included finalized mechanisms to recover funds deposited in Santa Bank, with the ministry confirming that the recovery process would begin shortly.
The ministry stated it would issue notices calling on affected citizens to provide the required documentation in coordination with the Maltese Embassy in Libya to ensure efficient procedures.
