The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity announced on Sunday the deployment of desert patrols along the border with Tunisia to secure the border and combat all forms of smuggling and illegal migration.
According to a brief statement from the ministry, patrols from the Al-Assa Security Sector were deployed from the Zahra Al-Khass point, passing through Al-Nawatheer, and reaching Burj Tawil Al-Taher.
Previously, the European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM) had announced an agreement to support the capabilities of Libyan authorities responsible for border security and management.
The initiative aims to secure the Al-Assa border area and the Ras Jdir border crossing, as well as provide technical and logistical support for maritime borders.
