The Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush and her Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio agreed in a meeting in Rome on Thursday to support the constitutional talks in Cairo as well as the efforts of the UN Advisor Stephanie Williams to reach a constitutional basis that leads to elections as soon as possible.

Al-Mngoush and Di Maio reviewed the latest political developments and bilateral cooperation, especially in fighting illegal immigration, as the latter reiterated support for the stability of Libya and former hailed Rome’s positive role in supporting peace in the country.

This meeting was preceded by a meeting for Al-Mangoush with the UK ambassador to Libya Caroline Hurndall in Tripoli, discussing the latest political developments, elections and how to hold a fair and transparent vote, in addition to going over the latest from the Cairo meetings of the constitutional talks under the UN auspices.
