The Minister of Interior in charge of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Imad Al-Trabelsi, has discussed with his Italian counterpart, Matteo Biantidosi, the ministry's plan to combat illegal immigration and protect borders.

Both sides discussed combating smuggling, drugs, organized crime and terrorism, in preparation for the meeting of the joint technical committee of the two ministries next February, according to the GNU media office.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, accompanied by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and Interior Minister Matteo Biantidosi, paid a visit to Tripoli, during which an agreement to invest in Libyan gas field worth $8 billion was signed.
