The Libyan Consulate in Istanbul announced that the Libyan rescue team has started, since Tuesday night, its duties in the earthquake-hit areas in southern Turkey, according to the plan developed by the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority.

The consulate stated on its Facebook page that the team, which includes a number of doctors, paramedics and rescue experts, arrived at Adana Airport on Tuesday.

This came on the instructions of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and with direct coordination from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in solidarity with the Turkish government and people.

Food and medical assistance was also sent for distribution to those affected by the earthquake, according to the consulate.
