Libya's Grand Mufti, Sheikh Sadiq al-Ghariani, has called on Libyans to defend their country against external interference, including Russian forces and intelligence agencies undermining Libya's stability.
Speaking on his weekly "Islam and Life" program, Sheikh al-Ghariani marked Libya's Independence Day by paying tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and criticized recent political moves by Khaled al-Mishri and Aguila Saleh in Morocco to form a transitional government, describing them as harmful to the nation's interests.
He emphasized the need to tackle corruption, adopt a constitution, and hold elections to move Libya forward.
The Mufti also warned against attempts to undermine the Audit Bureau, calling it a vital institution in the fight against corruption, and urged Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah to take decisive action against such threats.
