Libya's Grand Mufti, Sheikh Sadiq Al-Ghariani, has accused the United Nations of perpetuating conflicts and crises in Libya and other Arab countries, stating that its objective is to maintain foreign guardianship over these nations.
Speaking on his weekly programme "Islam and Life" on Al-Tanasuh TV, Al-Ghariani criticized the UN mission for repeatedly calling for consensus and stability in their Security Council briefings while, in practice, obstructing efforts to resolve Libya's crisis.
"This is what they say, but their actions, outcomes, and plans are aimed at preventing the country from emerging from its ordeal by any means, especially through adopting a constitution and holding elections," Sheikh Al-Ghariani said.
