According to the official website of the eastern government, a delegation from the self-proclaimed leaders of Cyrenaica threatened to close down oil fields from the region of the western Alahmar (Red) Valley to Emsaad in the east and Kufra down south, unless their demands are met within two months.

After meetings that were held by the chairman of the eastern government, Abdulla Thinni, the delegation demanded the relocation of the National Oil Corporation and Central Bank of Libya to Benghazi as well as the inclusion of rights of the region in the new constitution.

The website added that the delegation also called for the transfer of the Office of Sustainable Development to oil production regions, and to insure that oil companies implement their commitments to meet the demands of the Municipality of Jikharra.
