The Public Prosecutor, Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, has confirmed the seizure of expired and damaged foodstuffs offered for sale, blaming the regulatory authorities and the food laboratories for the absence of their role.

This came during his meeting with the Minister of Economy, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning, the Deputy Director General of the National Center for Standards and Metrology, and the Director of the Food Control Department at the Food and Drug Control Center.

The investigations confirmed the improper customs release procedures for foodstuffs when they are brought into the country, in addition to the lack of laboratory testing procedures by the majority of the suppliers”, Al-Sour said, pointing to the importance of reviewing and improving the applicable standards.
