Mali's northern Tuareg said they had killed and injured dozens of government army personnel and fighters of the Russian special military group Wagner.

The rebel movement "Permanent Strategic Framework for Peace, Security and Development" movement published a video showing the bodies of dozens of foreign militants killed in the middle of the desert, confirming that it also seized armoured vehicles, trucks and tankers in the fighting at the border town of Tinzaouaten on Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, unprecedented clashes broke out for months between the army and Mali's northern Tuareg in the town of Tinzaouaten, near the border with Algeria, after the army announced on Monday that it had taken control of the strategic In-Afrak region, located 120 kilometers northwest of Tessalit in the Kidal region.
