A man wanted for the murder of police officer Osama Sultan is in the hands of the security services, the Public Security Agency confirmed on Sunday.

The 28-year-old suspect allegedly shot his victim to death at the Third Ring Road in Tripoli before setting fire to the police car, which the deceased was driving.

The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday, May 3, the second day of Eid al-Fitr.

A post by the Interior Ministry on Facebook said inquiries and information gathering led to the arrest of the perpetrator, who was referred to the Public Prosecution after confessing to the crime.
