The head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, has met with the European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, to discuss the latest developments in Libya’s political, economic, and security landscape, reviewing the Presidential Council’s role in coordinating with the UN Support Mission to achieve political stability and move forward with elections.

The discussions also addressed economic challenges, including uncontrolled public spending, and emphasized the importance of strengthening oversight and transparency mechanisms.

For his part, Orlando reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Libya in areas such as unifying the military institution and combating illegal migration, praising Menfi’s efforts in addressing crises and promoting national unity.

Menfi stressed the importance of continued coordination with EU partners, highlighting the priority of protecting human rights and implementing UN Security Council recommendations on prosecuting human trafficking networks and addressing human rights violations.
