The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, applauded the efforts of the British ambassador Nicholas Hopton in boosting bilateral relations with Libya during his tenure.

The remarks came Sunday in a meeting in Tripoli for Menfi with Hopton who came to bid farewell as he would be leaving Libya after ending his term as ambassador.

Hopton hailed the facilitation of the Libyan authorities to him and his mission staffers to work in Libya and praised what the Presidential Council achieved regarding stability and security in the country, including unifying institutions, national reconciliation and paving the way for elections.

Ambassador Hopton will leave Libya and be replaced by Caroline Hurndall, at the end of August.
