The head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, has received the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, on his first official visit to Libya since 2012.

Both sides discussed in a meeting aspects of cooperation between the ICC and the Libyan judiciary in human rights issues, according to the media office of the Presidential Council.

Khan confirmed that the situation in Libya is a priority for his office and that deepening cooperation with the Libyan authorities and the pursuit of accountability is one of the basic principles of the ICC, stressing respect for international law to achieve justice.
