Mohamed Menfi, President of the Presidential Council (PC) and current head of the Arab Maghreb Union, met with the new Secretary-General, Tarek Ben Salem, on Saturday in Accra to discuss revitalizing the Union's activities.
According to the PC media office, Menfi and Ben Salem addressed participation in the African Union's semi-annual coordination meeting, strategies for integrating the African Union with the Arab Maghreb Union and other regional economic groups, and reactivating sectoral ministerial committees and the Union's institutions.
Menfi arrived in Accra on Saturday for the 6th semi-annual coordination meeting between the African Union, regional economic communities, and African mechanisms.
Sunday's meeting features heads of state and government leaders from countries heading regional economic communities and African mechanisms.
