The head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, participated on Tuesday, in the opening of the 16th Summit of Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), which was held in Nigeria, in the presence of the heads of state of Niger, Nigeria, Chad, Central Africa and Cameroon.

The summit is focused on coordinating more efforts for security cooperation, monitoring common borders, combating terrorism and organized crime, in addition to food and water security, according to the Presidential Council media office.

The LCBC was established on May 22, 1964, by the four countries bordering Lake Chad: Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, and Chad. The Central African Republic joined the organization in 1996 and Libya was admitted in 2008. Egypt, the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo are observer members. The headquarters of the Commission is located is in N’Djamena, Chad.
