A man has been killed and eight others injured in a mine explosion at the Iron Factory in the Sidi Al-Sayeh area south of Tripoli.

The area was a scene for fierce battles in Khalifa Haftar's aggression against Tripoli in 2019-2020.

The deceased was a factory worker, the Interior Ministry said, confirming that the injured are receiving treatment in the hospital.

The ministry said it had taken all legal measures and notified the Public Prosecution and the region's police station.

The mines left by Haftar's militias are still claiming the lives of civilians, the latest of which was the killing of the siblings, Moaz and Fida Abu Rass, after a landmine exploded near their house in the Ain Zara area, south of Tripoli, a few days ago.
