The Ministry of Health of the Presidential Council warned of the rise of non-endemic diseases in Libya, including tuberculosis, as a result of the flux of irregular migrants.

Commenting on the results of the survey regarding the effects of migration on public health in the housing centres of migrants, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Issa Alemyani said Thursday, that migration had affected public health, noting that the Ministry of Health stands with any scientific program that will protect the country from ill health and prevents the spreading of such diseases.

For his part, a member of the survey team Adel Al-Tajouri revealed that around 600 thousand migrants in Libya are not accommodated in immigration centres, which constitutes a greater threat to the public health.
